PHOTO CONTEST!
The ART OF PHOTOGRAPHY SHOW 2009 is an international exhibition of photographic art which will take place August 29 through November 1, 2009 at the elegant Lyceum Theatre Gallery, located in the historic Gaslamp Quarter of downtown San Diego, California. The Opening Reception Gala will be on Saturday, August 29th, and will be a world class event!

CALL FOR ENTRIES:
The Prospectus and entry details are availablehere. The online entry process is very easy, simply filling out a short registration form and then uploading your images as JPEG files. Images created via any form of photography will be accepted for consideration (i.e. shot on film, shot digitally, unaltered shots, alternative process, mixed media, digital manipulations, montages, photograms, etc.), so long as part of the image is photographically created. The entry deadline is May 22nd.
JURIED COMPETITION:
Charlotte Cotton is the Judge for the Art of Photography Show 2009. Ms. Cotton is Curator and Head of the Photography Department at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) She has curated photography exhibitions at museums and universities around the world and has written numerous books, catalogs, essays and articles on various aspects of photography. Charlotte Cotton is highly respected in the global photographic community, so it's a significant honor to be selected by her.

ENTRY FEE:
$25 for the first entry, $10 for each additional entry. There is no limit to the number of entries an artist may enter. The entire registration, upload, and payment process can be done securely right on the website.
DISCOUNT:
Artists who entered work in any previous Art of Photography Show or Art of Digital Show will receive a $15 discount on their first entry in the Art of Photography Show 2009.
SHOW CATALOG:
We are producing a superb Show Catalog, which will feature every image in the Show and an artist statement about the work. Artists who are in the Show can obtain as many copies of the Show Catalog as they like for free, which can be used for promotion and marketing of their work.
MARKETING & PUBLICITY:
The Art of Photography Show 2009 will be pursuing an intensive marketing and publicity campaign to bring maximum media attention to the artists who are juried into the exhibition. Over 20,000 people are expected to view the Show during the run at the Lyceum Theatre gallery, which is open (free) seven days a week. So, the artists and their work will receive a tremendous amount of exposure by the media and the public.
SALES:
One of our key aims is to sell the work that is exhibited at The Art of Photography Show 2009. Our great love of this art form (and being photographic artists ourselves) prompts us to 'pull out all of the stops' in order to showcase a truly excellent presentation of photographic art, to elevate and promote this art form, and to provide substantial benefits to the exhibiting artists.

One year and 8 months!!! Yes it is me and my hunny’s one year an 8 month mark! We are going to Peganfest tonight in Santa Clara!!! It’s been a busy, busy first half of the year for me! I’ve had numerous photoshoots with wonderful people, my pro-bono work for 831MAG has been really successful as well, I am a regular contributor, I met a wonderfully talented make-up artist who I will be working close with in the studio and I just purchased me a great Canon Rebel camera that I am loving! I’ve got 2 wedding I will be photographing in the next couple months and I am just loving life these days!

It’s a new year folks!!!! And already it’s feeling the the best year ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just recently recieved and email from brickfish.com congratulating me on a job well done for one of my submissions! The pat on the back was great, they told me that I was their GRAND PRIZE WINNER!!!!!!!!!!!! $750 in CASH! I was sooooo happy!!!!!!!!!!!! Here were the contest details!

Not only was I so happy to have learned that I won this wonderful campaign, I was also stoked to let Ryan from 831 Magazin know that he had an award winning design and article in his magazine! Yup! That magazine is out and I picked up 3 copies of it! It’s a badass magazine!! I am loving being a contributor!!!! KUDOS TO ME!!!!!

The year is almost over! I cannot believe we are now going to be 2008! Pretty amazing. What can I possibly say? Actually, let me rephrase that, where do I start? In a nut shell I just want to say that it was a year full of emotional and physical challenges and I made it! My boyfriend and I celebrated our first solid year together on September 9th 2007! YAY! My little boy Isaiah turned the big NUMBER 5 on September 21st! YAY!!!!!!!! My photography portfolio is getting bigger and bigger! YAY! I submitted a couple of pro-bono magazine layouts for a new magazing coming out (831MAG) This Jan 2008! That was exciting! YAY! Although me and some of my friends had our own ideas about putting together a magazine, it didn’t really happen, we tried but nothing ever came about, so I did my own thing and designed for someone else’s magazine! WOo Hoo!!!! Also, I ran my first 5K race on December 1st 2007 in San Jose for a great cause. The race to erase racism. I was very proud to have been able to participate and accomplish my own personal goal! Also (yes there are alot of also’s in this) I have lost 40 pounds while exercising and eating right and I continue to do so always striving for better! This year was also the year I gave up hope of ever finding my father. about 8 months ago I stopped looking for him. It was sad, but I wasn’t successful in my search. I called the case closed. That is of course until November 29th 2007 when I received a message from a person unknown to me. Her name was Anna and she was kin to my father! It was a miracle. I was found and on December 22nd 2007 I was reunited with my long lost father. A day to remember indeed! A great ending to a very challenging year! I am looking forward to a stellar 2008 with my extended family and can’t wait to start building precious moments and memories!!!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR TO THE WORLD!!!! XOXOXOXO v*diz

Well, no one knows this yet, but they will now, me and some colleagues are working on a pretty big project these days. It’s what you would call a “In you’re face” kinda magazine. So what is it about? Hmmm, I can’t really SPILL the whole pot of beans just yet. Just know that we will have ooodles of words written by the minds of really talented, blunt, happy, trendy, geeky, well-rounded (and I mean that literally) people! We are a crazy bunch and are pretty darn excited about that whole DEAL.
We’re taking in people who’d like to volunteer some of their time to maybe write a little something about ANYTHING they want. Of course it will go through our staff and be edited and or approved to be in the MAG. Our first issue is set to be out in the next few months, maybe longer since we haven’t really figured out a name for it yet!! hahahah... But that doesn’t mean we haven’t already started working on the inside “meat”. If you are interested you can email me and let me know!

So, they thought to have a modeling contest. This e-mail is only being sent to people who have placed orders on our website within the last year. I will send a free hoodie to the person who sends in the coolest, funniest or hottest pictures. Thats three free hoodies we will be giving away. Here is how to enter and win:

- · The Image must be at least 150 dpi at 5 inches in height. The bigger the better.
- · You have got to be able to see the shirt and the image printed on it clearly!!
- · White or solid color background works best.
- · You don't need to be beautiful but a punk, rockabilly, rock n roll or tattoo look is required.
- · You can be as crazy as you want in the picture, but no nudity or pornographic shit..yuk
- After about a month or so, they will choose the best three pictures e-mailed in and send out your choice of a free hoodie. ALL PICTURES THAT ARE SUBMITTED TO THEM WILL BE FEATURED ONLINE ONE WAY OR ANOTHER!! So, send them some pictures people! Kids, dogs and small farm animals are welcome to apply! They discriminate to no one. Freaks of all ages, size and color, come one come all.
